About Shower Up ATL
Our Story
One day, while driving to the store with my wife, we stopped at a light beneath a bridge overpass. As we looked over, we noticed a man experiencing homelessness carefully sweeping the small area where he had set up a tent and arranged a few pieces of furniture.
We were immediately moved.
Despite living beneath a bridge, he was maintaining his environment with care and pride. I turned to my wife and said, “I’ve never seen someone sweep the area where they live under a bridge.” She replied, “He’s trying to keep his space clean—but the only thing he’s missing is access to a bathroom or a shower so he can clean himself too.”
That conversation changed everything.
We began thinking about how many individuals experiencing homelessness are doing their best with what they have—preserving dignity and striving for normalcy—yet lacking access to something as basic as hygiene services.
That day, the vision for SHOWER UP ATL was born.
We imagined a mobile shower bus—a safe, welcoming space where individuals could freshen up, regain confidence, and start their day with dignity. What began as an observation became a calling: to provide not just hygiene services, but hope, respect, and human connection.

Our Vision extends to a future where the 2,700 unhoused individuals within a 130 sq mile experience homelessness is addressed with empathy and sustainable solutions. Shower Up is dedicated to impacting lives one drop at a time by promoting hygiene and empowering individuals experiencing homelessness through the provision of mobile showers, haircuts, and clean clothes. We believe that every person deserves access to basic necessities and opportunities for personal well-being regardless of their housing status. By delivering these essential services directly to the unhoused communities, we aim to break down barriers, foster human connection, and inspire hope for a brighter future. Our mission is driven by compassion, respect, and unwavering belief in the inherent worth and potential of every individual. Together we strive to create a more inclusive and compassionate society where homelessness is addressed with empathy and sustainable solutions.
Shower Up ATL Bus
We are converting a 46-foot commercial coach bus into a five-unit mobile hygiene facility featuring four fully private self-contained bathrooms and one ADA-accessible bathroom. Each unit includes a walk-in shower, toilet, sink, and private changing space to ensure dignity, safety, and accessibility.
Our program addresses a critical service gap: consistent access to private hygiene facilities for unsheltered individuals. Limited hygiene access contributes to poor health outcomes, barriers to employment, reduced self-esteem, and social isolation.
Once operational, the mobile unit is projected to serve 40–60 individuals per deployment, delivering showers, hygiene supplies, and wellness support directly into underserved communities.
SHOWER UP ATL’s model integrates trauma-informed design, accessibility standards, and scalable infrastructure, positioning the organization for future fleet expansion across the region.
Our goal is to improve health equity, restore dignity, and remove preventable barriers to employment and stability.
